The sight and aroma of food is always a gentle massage to our soul. Keeping this in mind TLC café started somewhere in the middle of 2021, it is situated right next to CFAL (the same area as the earlier Mandala Café), quotes to tempt your taste buds with delicacies from all around the world.
There’s something undeniably soothing about walking into TLC Art Café. With its art-adorned walls, cozy corners, and a relaxed charm that feels equal parts café and creative studio, it’s the kind of place where you could spend hours sipping coffee, journaling, or simply letting conversation flow. The earthy tones, hanging lights, and faint hum of soft music all add to the café’s warm, bohemian vibe. It feels like a space that encourages you to slow down and savour. Whether that’s a meal, a mood, or a moment. There’s a certain calmness here that’s rare to find amid Mangalore’s bustle, and that alone makes TLC worth visiting.
The aroma of the coffee is part of the daily rhythm. Vietnamese coffee is brewed with a tiny metal vietnamese drip filter and uses medium to coarse ground dark roast vietnamese grown coffee. After adding hot water, the drip filter slowly distributes the drips of hot coffee into a cup. The completed vietnamese coffee was made by swiftly pouring a cup of hot coffee decoction into a glass full of ice. It had condensed milk in the bottom-most layer to balance out the strong flavours of the coffee. Not forgetting to mention about the satisfying process of making this beautiful buff brown coloured coffee glass. For all the coffee lovers out there, this place is a must for trying out different varieties of coffee.
Although the atmosphere here is astounding, I discovered that they could have done a more pleasant job on all the savoury food items on the menu. No doubt the existing menu consists of cuisines that are not readily available in mangalore but in contrast the only improvement in their savoury menu is that they could add more flavours to it. The bread here was a little too stale for my taste buds and the lamb filling would have been my favourite if it had a pinch of more flavours to it. In my opinion the total bill was disagreeable for what I was served.
A pizza is something we all tend enjoy every now and then. It creates a sense of unity unlike any other meal. Tlc café serves a mangalorean ghee roasted chicken pizza which I must say is pretty decent when it comes to taste, it did wake up my taste buds but my personal opinion speaks that the authentic mangalorean flavour of the gheeroast was missing. Nonetheless if you want to enjoy a delicious chicken pizza with your loved ones, this is a good place to share pizzas and happiness.
Now who doesn't like a good frappe? I have to say their caramel frappe has to be one of my favourites. Made with ice, rich caramel taste, and a dash of coffee, then topped with whipped topping. It was blended to a proper thickness, just as it should be done. The golden-brown glow of the caramel provided a lively warmth and a sensation of belonging, as if it were a type of enchantment.
Cold chocolate frappe was another beverage that I ordered here. It had the right amount of cream, ice, sugar and of course chocolate which makes this a pretty decent chocolate frappe and if I had choose to between caramel frappe and cold chocolate frappe, my heart would definitely scream caramel frappe. If you happen to visit this cafe then their caramel frappe has to be on your order list.
TLC Art Café is the kind of place that blends creativity, comfort, and caffeine into one charming experience. While their savoury dishes could use a bit more finesse in flavour and execution, their beverage game especially the coffee and frappes is undeniably strong. The ambience makes up for a lot, creating a space where you can unwind, chat, and let time slip by unnoticed. It’s ideal for anyone seeking a quiet corner in Mangalore to work, read, or simply be. With a little more attention to their food, TLC could easily become the go-to hangout for both artists and food lovers alike.
